Has anyone ever written a fic, and I mean a long multi-part fic, where they finally finish it and think they don't really like it?

I've just finished a DW fic and there are parts that are good, but to get to those parts there's a lot of stuff to wade through. There's a lot of set up that I don't think I can cut without making it confusing. There's also very little dialogue, which kind of made me nuts. But people are in different time lines and they just can't talk. Should I scrap it? Should I try to rewrite the whole thing?

My head hurts.

I should just quit whinging and stop tinkering and send it off to be betaed (well that looks completely wrong...beta'd, beta-ed maybe?) so I can find out if it's really that bad.
